MichaŽl Dudok de Wit is a Dutch animator, director and illustrator who has long been based in the UK, where he came to study animation. After many years working on commercials, his first short, Cťsar-winning The Monk and the Fish was made at French studio Folimage, garnering countless international awards, as did the Oscar-winning Father and Daughter. His work brought him an invitation by world renowned Japanese Ghibli studio to make a feature, The Red Turtle in France, and received numerous prizes including Cannes' Un Certain Regard Best Direction. He has also written and illustrated books for children.
