Cult Japanese animation director Atsushi Wada was born in Hyogo Prefecture, 1980. He studied visual image at Osaka Kyoiku University, Image Forum Institute of Moving Image and the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts. He has been producing independent shorts since 2002, including Day of Nose (2005), In A Pig’s Eye (2005), Well, That’s Glasses (2007) and won several international awards, at both animation and generalist film festivals. The Mechanism of Spring (2010) was selected for the Venice Film Festival and his latest, Gurehto Rabitto, a French co-production, is in competition at the Berlin Film Festival this year.
