Jayne Pilling on handing over the reins

A lot has changed in British animation since my first edition of the British Animation Awards in 1996, intended to recognise and celebrate talent in the UK in a format that was original and a bit different: just like British animation itself. It has been gratifying to see BAA become established as a much-loved and unique event over the years.

In handing over the reins to Helen Brunsdon, known for her experience in the industry, both in terms of development, production and training, and a real commitment to the importance of short films, an essential format for developing talent, I have no doubt that she will continue the spirit of the Awards, while also bringing new ideas and making changes to make it an even better event. So, best of luck for 2020!
